This formerly mixed-use area, once part of the West End community, was cleared through highway construction and urban renewal to make way for the 1960s-style industrial park development, taking advantage of adjacent river, railway, and highway access.
Queensgate is not primarily a residential area. It’s the home of mostly low-rise office buildings, light-industrial sites, and transportation-related facilities. A minimum-security prison is located here in a converted warehouse.
Queensgate is bounded by Camp Washington to the north, by Lower Price Hill to the west, by the Ohio River to the south, and by the West End to the east. Queensgate contains a portion of two census tracts (1 and 4) included in the Empowerment Zone.
