Evanston

Rail transportation to downtown Cincinnati helped Evanston, only 15 minutes from downtown, grow as a bedroom suburb in the late 1800’s. Just north of Walnut Hills, Evanston is home to Xavier University, several beautiful parks, and the city’s premier academic public high school, Walnut Hills High School.

Evanston offers a large stock of reasonably priced single-family homes on many residential streets, and larger, older apartment buildings providing subsidized housing to low-income families along the main thoroughfares.

Evanston is bordered by Norwood, North Avondale, and Avondale on the north, by Hyde Park on the east, by Walnut Hills, East Walnut Hills and O’Bryonville on the south, and by Walnut Hills and Avondale on the west. Evanston contains portions of two census tracts (38 and 68) in the Empowerment Zone.
